WE LOVE READING!
You can prove your POWER for Reading! EVERYONE at Northside Elementary is a reader! Come join our school as it transforms into a reading wonderland where our POWER of reading is taking over halls, walls and hearts! EVERY CHILD can show their SUPER POWERS IN READING and receive his or her own awards as well as classroom awards! Everyone who participates will get an award. Here’s how you and your class can participate!
Step #1 – As soon as possible, find sponsors (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, babysitters, family friends, co-workers, etc.) who will pledge a certain amount of money for every 10 minutes that you read or an easy flat one time donation! Add the sponsor’s name and pledge to your pledge sheet. Please do not go door to door or ask a stranger for a pledge.
Step #2 – READ, READ, READ all that you can between Friday, February 2nd and Sunday, February 11th. Log your minutes electronically at school and at home.
- Anytime you read counts (even at school or for your homework).
- Anywhere you read counts (even on the bus, in bed or outside ANYWHERE!).
- Reading to someone, listening to audiobooks or having someone read to you counts!
Step #3 – Starting Friday, February 2nd you can start collecting your pledges. Your reading minutes will be added together and sent home with you. Place your pledge sheet and donations in the manila envelope and turn it into your teacher no later than February 16th!
Even envelopes without pledges should be turned in for the classroom and school wide reading goals. We want to see how much we can read TOGETHER!
